1964 Leyland Atlantean PDR1 with Alexander style bodywork.
 
This is an EFE code 3 model which has been stripped to bare metal and fully resprayed into the rarely seen National Bus Company blue livery with original style white “flying N” motifs.
 
The vehicle is the former Gateshead number 121 (ACN421B), which was one of a pair loaned to fellow Northern Group subsidiary Sunderland District, both gaining the then-new NBC version of blue.
 
The model has been airbrushed into NBC livery using as accurate a representation of the blue shade as possible. Correct for period adverts have been applied on both sides.
 
All of the underside has been airbrushed in satin black, and the wheels are resprayed in NBC light grey.
 
Destination blinds are set to show the bus working on route 536 to “South Shield”. Although believed to be a spelling mistake, this destination has been verified from two separate photos of the actual vehicle taken on different dates by different photographers. There are later photos of the same vehicle showing “South Shields” as the destination, which is the correct spelling as far as I am aware.
 
Produced in a very small run as always, the models are supplied with their original EFE boxes and each one has a signed certificate of authenticity.
